Tikkun Olam Farm strives to “repair the Earth” both in our use of regenerative agricultural practices which help promote soil health without the use of chemicals, and in our efforts to help reduce food insecurity by donating monthly to Manna. We focus largely on education and philanthropy as a way to teach others about where their food and fiber come from, and what they can do to help our local community.
Our animals are our beloved farmhands and family member. Our goats, including our 6 registered American Cashmere goats, go out on leash to eat the invasive and other plants. They also eat other vegetation that we clear away and bring to them. They then amend the soil in their pastures. We have created a balanced ecosystem, and we only have as many goats as I can respectfully take care of on a one-to-one basis. We sell much of the cashmere as a raw material for spinners and felters to use in their products, but do also have hand-spun skeins available for purchase. We do our best to limit producing waste.
