Chesapeake Fibershed Meet-up – Planting a Natural Dye Garden
March 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Spring planting season is just around the corner!
Join us for a talk on growing your own dye plants with Pat Brodowski, author of Gardening and Foraging Natural Dyes. Pat has a background in horticulture, historic gardening, plant dyeing, culinary arts and painting. She will share her knowledge of how to select and support the dye plants you wish to introduce in your own garden, whether you are working with a large bed or a humble pot. We will be joined by Melanie Ruckle of Putnam Hill Nursery in Forest Hill, Md. Melanie tends a beautiful nursery and garden with a focus on harder to find native plants and dye plants–many of you may already know her from the MSWF as a regular vendor and provider of dye plants from indigo, madder and weld and beyond. Bring questions, curiosity, and imagination and be empowered to grow flourishing dye gardens within our fibershed.
