As part of the mapping process, we have developed surveys designed to gather helpful information about fiber resources located in the Chesapeake Fibershed (which we define as following the Chesapeake Watershed, encompassing the greater Washington D.C. – Baltimore metropolitan areas and extending through portions of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia). These surveys ask for a variety of details such as practices currently being used for grazing animals and growing fiber and dye crops, the amount, type, and quality of fiber being produced, processed and used, as well as current marketing channels. Your responses will inform the steps needed to sustain and support our local fiber community.
There are 4 surveys, each focused on a step in the soil-to-soil textile system. Please choose the one that most fits your role in our fibershed:
If you’re a producer of fiber or dye, click here
If you’re a mill or a processer of fiber for other than your own use, click here
If you’re a retailer of fiber products, click here
If you’re a maker or designer, click here.
Please fill out this survey to the best of your ability and please share the survey with others!
